It's been pure pleasure transforming my office from a drab and dated spare bedroom to a workspace that entices me to write, sew, and create. I hope you enjoy a peek at the view from my desk. I wrote about this makeover previously and you can read about it
here. At the time, the wall space between the entry door and closet door was blank. I used to set up my ironing board there and it was fine, but I needed more storage space for the things I'll be listing in my etsy shop, so I hauled up a sweet wicker baby dresser that I bought at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore for $10.00. When I stumbled upon the dresser in the fall, I didn't really know what I'd do with it, but I knew it was coming home with me regardless!
I bought new knobs for it this week when Hobby Lobby had them for half price but I decided that I preferred it much better in its simple, clean state. The knobs seemed to fight with the vintage goodness ... the canisters, by the way, hold markers and art supplies.
The vintage picture frame was transformed into a chalkboard in late August for my daughter's Labor Day weekend wedding. It really does help keep me organized. Did you know you can buy "Chalk Ink" at Michaels? It's a marvelous product and works great. It was a little pricey but with a coupon, you can't lose. The chisel tip markers come four in a pack and are easy to erase. "February" and the little heart are the result of the Chalk Ink Wet Wipe Markers. Oh, and I took the rusty butterfly lamp off the wall in a sun porch at an estate sale. It was $5.00 and so unique. I thought about embellishing the shade with some lace, but I rather like the rough, textural vibe it has. What would you do?
I discovered the old wooden crate in the closet off the kitchen when I moved into my house in August. The previous owners had it tipped on its side as a makeshift shelf. I love it! I wasn't sure if I wanted to fill it with vintage sewing patterns or fabric. I may try fabric one of these days, but the patterns fill it nicely too.
The globe was a recent find as was the embroidered runner. The runner has bluebirds on it ... so cute! And what can I say about aprons except I love them and will be selling lots in my etsy shop.

How do you like the vintage Two-Piece Snow Suit pattern? Isn't it great? It cost a whopping $.15 back in the day. Hhhmmm ... can we buy anything for a dime and a nickle today?
These little guys are actually new, though still a bargain at $.99 each. Gotta love Vidler's in East Aurora, NY.

There's still lots to do at the cottage-by-the-creek but I'm getting there. This coming week my brother-in-law is starting on my kitchen. The first thing he'll be doing is installing bead board in the back hall and ripping off the tile back splash. I'll keep you posted. It's nice to know I can escape the construction chaos by retreating to my cozy office. I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my creative space.
